If you push the white buttons on the right, does it rewind the tape and play a tune? |
Well, it would appear that the CETT Circus will be back in town this coming Thursday evening, and the Planning Commission will once again be treated to another exciting new One Carter creation of the most exotic originality and design.
Think of it as our city's very own equivalent of Crazy Relative Syndrome (CRS). These people come to visit us every once in a while whether we want them here or not, create a lot of unnecessary drama and stress while they're in town, and then leave in a mad howling rush of stink eye, barking lawyers, legal actions and other highly unpleasant things. Charmers all, and yes, you'd best count the silver.
Thanks to the miracle known as cut & paste, we have been able to provide you with the above picture of the latest CETT attempt at whatever it is they think they're doing at One Carter. I would say "doing to One Carter," but they never seem to get that far.
This is how the City Hall tees the puppy up:
Now normally we would expound upon this ourselves, because that is pretty much what is done on this blog. We're expounders. And in the past that was all on us because if we didn't do it, then who in the world would? However, things have changed so much in town over the last year or so that we won't have to do that today. Instead, we can allow City Staff to do the heavy lifting for us.
Yes, I am struggling with this cultural sea change. But here is how Leticia Cardoso (voted 2014's "Tattler City Hall Employee of the Year") lays into this odd barking dog of a design. And this most certainly is yet another stellar creation from the fabulous Adele Chang, as repeatedly employed by the insistently clueless overseas developer known as CETT.
Ouch.
Quick question. Did the patient live?
More Comedy
Here is another piquant tidbit from Ms. Cardoso's staff report on this kooky LULU ("Locally Unwanted Land Use").
Sapphos Environmental is a company that apparently concerns itself with aesthetics of design as they relate to community architectural and historic standards. Or, as the staff report states, they're a "cultural resources consultant." Which means, at least in my somewhat jaded worldview, they gamely attempt to create credible narratives to back up the sorts of dubious ploys often employed by the likes of CETT and their world renowned architect, Adele Chang.
For a fee, of course. We are talking about a consultant here after all.
That said, can anyone here explain to me how anyone could possibly claim that the building pictured below has no design conflicts with whatever it is that's shown at the top of this page?
