We've discussed the "Mike Gatto Is A Sweet Dude" blog here before. It is about as vile and pornographic a political hit site as you will ever see. If you don't believe me, look it up. Pay special attention to what it says about Sierra Madre. According to the blog's author, you enjoy having sex with farm animals. Yes, you do get what you vote for sometimes.

As you likely know, there was once quite a fierce political rivalry between former California State Assemblyman Mike Gatto and current CA State Senator Anthony Portantino. That has all subsided as Gatto's political fortunes have faded a bit as of late, but the smoldering residue of their rather gruesome political wars remains scattered all over the Internet. The "Sweet Dude" site is definitely a radioactive consequence of that.

Longtime Tattler readers may see some parallels between "Sweet Dude" and the old "Sierra Madre Cumquat." It appears both come from the same political playbook.

The odd thing is Gatto and Portantino are both Democrats. You would think they'd make at least an effort to get along a little. Obviously that is not the case, however. Then again, there are so few viable Republicans in the area, maybe there isn't anyone else left for them to fight with.

A pro-Gatto site called The Burbank Blog (link) posted the following a few months back. I am reposting it here because I think that what it discusses deserves a wider audience, and some frank discussion. The charges made there are both colorfully written and, if true, deeply disturbing.

Do I think Portantino, or someone he is paying to help run his political affairs, is responsible for the "Sweet Dude" site? I have my suspicions, but no actual proof. But having had several opportunities to watch Anthony in action, I will admit that he is a pretty smooth operator. Many people really do buy into his political shtick. His recent visit to Sierra Madre was quite an object lesson in both his political abilities and the ease with which he manipulates the credulous locals drawn to him.

Me? I have come to believe very little of what I hear from almost any local politician. There are few honest and clean ones, though there are certainly some who are better actors. In my opinion Portantino falls into that category.

If what The Burbank Blog is suggesting here is true, then Portantino is just as dirty and morally corrupt as anyone else who has spent far too much time in Sacramento, and not enough punching a real clock for a living.
