The old adage that "a picture says a thousand words" could never be more true than in this case. We all fought very hard to preserve this house when the first buyer proposed to demolish it. We thought the home was saved when the City Council passed the demolition moratorium and later the demolition ordinance. As we can see from the picture below, it was not enough to save it from a determined owner with a team of lawyers.
Preserve Sierra Madre thanks everyone who supported our efforts, who sent the emails and who attended the City Council and Planning Commission meetings. We pledge to re-group, learn from what happened here and be there to fight another day against those forces that don't care whether Sierra Madre is preserved or not. Our battle cry shall be "Never Again!"
