As a review, here is what City Manager Aguilar originally reported back in September (link):
That impression was reinforced this week by the following widely circulated email. This went out to quite a few residents, many of them directly involved with the Halloween celebrations on East Alegria.
We reported on all of that rhythm yesterday, and apparently many people were not especially happy to hear it. The widely held perception being that City Hall was playing utility tax politics with that signature Sierra Madre Halloween children's event on Alegria, in the process leaving this town's biggest yearly holiday event open to all sorts of bad things. Much of which could have fallen on the heads of some of this community's youngest and most vulnerable citizens.
Apparently City Hall, along with all five City Councilmembers, heard the resulting community outrage quite clearly. Meetings were held downtown, discussions had, with the end result being there is now going to be some law enforcement help for East Alegria this Halloween after all.
Go figure.
Like I said, and for whatever reason, the latest edition of the City Manager's Report is now available a full day earlier than usual. Done I suspect in order to deliver this following message (link):
Yes, that certainly is quite a change. And a linguistically challenging one as well. How can you have a "minimal" police presence on Alegria due to "budget cuts" on the one hand, while at the very same time running pretty much the same law enforcement operation we've seen there year after year on the other?
That really would be quite a trick.
I also suspect it is a lot of nonsense. What really happened is the people spoke out loudly, called the City Manager on her strangely tone deaf political tax agenda, and City Hall changed its tune as quickly as it could. Assisted by five City Councilmembers eager to put yet another embarrassing City Manager blunder behind them.

The PUSDcould be the worst functioning school district in California

In case you are not aware, Cleveland Elementary is one of those infamous dumping ground schools the PUSD maintains. All while piously denying that such things have ever existed.
Here are the stats from a website called California School Ratings (link):
The Pasadena Unified School District remains today the same class and racially divided mess it has been for years. With its poorest children and families shoved off into specially designated dumping ground schools like Cleveland Elementary.
Where it just so happens an alleged child molester was apparently allowed to operate unimpeded for a considerable stretch of time.
