Forget about the house. What you need to do is push that lot size. Nobody is going to want to live in your quaint 1,795 square foot slanty shanty with that droop stoop anyway. The big money buyers are just going to obliterate that sucker and plow it into the dry and dusty quicker than you can say "escrow."

No, they are going to want to get themselves a big lot so they can build themselves a hella McMansion, just like their pals a few blocks down Baldwin Avenue have. Or maybe split that big lot of yours into two and build themselves a couple of tall skinny ones. Camillo Road comes to mind. You never really know where they'll go with this until the fat permit sings.
And if your little place in the sun is smack dab in the middle of a large and lovely lot, you are going to get more money than you ever dreamed possible. They're even advertising Sierra Madre's largest lots in the local newspapers. Check out this ad from yesterday's Pasadena Star News:

This is, of course, how they'll sell both you and Sierra Madre out. Drop some big cash on those who own properties large enough to be useful for either lot splitting or McMansions, and then set to building them. Complete with some over-the-counter General Plan ignoring permits from City Hall. Just one property at a time is all it will ever really take.
The guys with the cash think everything is for sale, and all it will take is a motivated price. And who knows, they could be right.
Operators are standing by. Better get that General Plan done soon. Like maybe Wednesday.
Neil the Pig Passes Away
He was a beloved member of this community, and at times even a cause you could believe in. Perhaps you remember the great Pig vs. Hog controversy of a couple of years back? Neil was also the #5 vote getter as a write-in candidate in last April's City Council election, in case you didn't know. Finishing a little bit behind Noah Green.
But alas Neil is now gone. Rainbow bridges and all. Here is how the news broke yesterday on Facebook.

Robert Spencer's talk yesterday at the Veteran's Day Ceremonies
It was a great speech, but I know everybody couldn't be there yesterday and maybe you didn't hear it. The good news is that the entire talk was videotaped and it will be posted on YouTube soon. As soon as it is up and running we will post the link here.
Barry Gold sent an email to the City Council about yesterday's Veteran's Day event. Here is what he said:
Dear Mayor and Council Members,
Today my wife and I attended the Veteran's Day ceremony in Memorial Park sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Sierra Madre, Post 3208.
Before the event started I heard a couple of people wonder if it was appropriate to have Robert Spencer as the guest speaker. I myself wondered that too. Well after hearing Mr. Spencer speak there is no doubt that he was the perfect speaker for the event.
We were there to honor those who fought to protect our freedom and to remember those who died while fighting to protect our freedom against those who would deny us our inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
What better way to honor the Veterans who have fought for us then to continue this fight against those who have vowed to destroy all who do not embrace their Brand of Islam? They are not hard to identify. Mr. Spencer pointed out several groups that publicly take pride in taking credit for their terrorist acts.
The proof that Mr. Spencer was the right person to speak at today's ceremony was the fact that when he was finished speaking every Veteran in the audience gave him a lengthy standing ovation. There was one Veteran, who must have been in his 90s, in a wheel chair. He wanted so badly to stand and applaud Mr. Spencer but it was obvious that he was not able to do so. Still he kept attempting to stand while in visible pain trying to do so. Finally family members helped him up and for just a second or two he was able to show his appreciation to Mr. Spencer for the remarks he made.
That was all I needed to see to know that Mr. Spencer was the perfect speaker for this event. That was more than enough for me to see to be reminded how lucky I am to live in America.
