Pasadena Star News Blues: Dave Link's Big Stink

So New Urban West, the controversial outfit that is attempting to cram the Passionist Monastery grounds with 42 multi-million dollar mono-form mini-mansions, allegedly got to the upper level suits that run the Pasadena Star News and other newspapers in California and demanded that they be allowed to respond to my column from last Sunday. My piece was called "God weighs in on the McMansions" and can be linked tohere

I guess NUW was so upset by my column that their minds became clouded, because the guy they hired to write their reply is none other than Sierra Madre's own, Dave Link. His attempt at refutation will appear in the Opinion section of this Sunday's Star News edition.

They probably would have been better off just writing a letter, IMHO.

So you know, I found out about this when told my next column due date had been pushed back a week to accommodate Dave's column. Which is fine. I'm always prepared for fun.

Dave is a bit of an excitable oddball, and has been all over the map on the development issue. Below is a comment he left on my blog a few years back. Apparently The Linkster has made quite a journey from green acres anti-Capitalist defender of the Passionist Monastery's natural splendor, to the bad development hack he has become today.

Yes, dung of the devil, indeed. And certainly not at all complimentary of Father Michael. It does make you wonder what it is they used to get to him.

You can contrast this to an account of Dave Link's antics that preservationist leader Matt Bryant emailed to a few concerned residents recently.

Coughing on your neighbors, fake or not, and in the middle of the Covid epidemic no less, seems like an odd way to present your argument on a land use issue. I am going to assume he didn't wear his mask.

I'll post about more Dave's rebuttal to my column soon after the PSN releases it.

One last thing. Why does Dave Link use the following picture on his Facebook page? Isn't it a view of everything that will be destroyed by the development he supports?
