Mod: The Traitor Trumps can't be too happy about members of their own family being placed into personal legal jeopardy.
1/6 Committee Puts A Bullseye On The Trumps By Subpoenaing Eric Trump And Kimberly Guilfoyle’s Phone Records (PoliticusUSAlink): The 1/6 Committee is investigating the Trump family for the 1/6 attack as they have subpoenaed the phone records of Eric Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle.
CNN reported, “The House committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol has subpoenaed and obtained records of phone numbers associated with one of former President Donald Trump’s children, Eric Trump, as well as Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is engaged to Donald Trump Jr., sources tell CNN.”
The 1/6 Committee Is Investigating The Trump Family
Everyone knew that the committee would be investigating Donald Trump. It is a different twist to see that they are investigating Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancee. These are the first known 1/6 Committee subpoenas for the Trump family.
There will be a pushback from the Trumps likely via their favorite outlet Fox News on the subpoenas. It is also expected that they will attempt to fight the subpoenas. Although, those efforts appear likely to fail because any claims of executive privilege cover neither of the two subpoena targets. It was always unlikely that Trump’s family had zero knowledge of the coup since the committee has obtained evidence that Kimberly Guilfoyle was involved in fundraising for the coup. The Trumps are already in a world of hurt legally, but the family involvement in an attempted coup against the United States of America could be the end of the line.
N.Y. attorney general alleges Trump’s business inflated property values, wealth statements (Washington Postlink): New York Attorney General Letitia James alleged on Tuesday that former president Donald Trump’s business inflated the value of his properties and misstated his personal worth in representations to lenders, insurance brokers and other players in his real estate empire.
James, who is leading a civil probe into Trump and his business, spelled out the claims in a late court filing Tuesday, offered in support of her bid to see Trump and his adult children deposed under oath.
In a nearly 160-page filing, James cited multiple examples of Trump allegedly lending his signature to financial statements that estimated the worth of properties in the Trump Organization portfolio and the value of his own fortune — estimates that James’s team has long suggested were misleading and potentially key to taking legal action against the Manhattan-based company.“Donald Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., and Ivanka Trump have all been closely involved in the transactions in question, so we won’t tolerate their attempts to evade testifying in this investigation,” James said in a statement released late Tuesday night along with the documents.
James said that their testimony is necessary to progress a probe that is based on at least 900,000 documents obtained from the Trump Organization, interviews with employees and other evidence.
The filings were in response to a motion to quash subpoenas to the three Trumps, demanding they sit for depositions and produce related records. Eric Trump, who along with his siblings has served as a high-ranking officer at the company, was deposed in late 2020.
