One of the cornerstones of
Nancy Walsh's campaign for
City Council in
2010 was the unhappy state of
Sierra Madre's downtown shopping area. Pronouncing what had happened to our main drag commercial district a "
community disgrace," one that she would never stand for, Nancy vowed that once elected she would do everything within her power to undo the economic blight caused there by what she repeatedly portrayed as carelessness and neglect. Now, and after much wasted effort and $10s of thousands in precious taxpayer dollars spent, it is four years later.
Let's take a quick look and see just how much things have changed in our downtown.
Apparently not a whole lot of downtown renaissance success can be claimed so far by the individual we now know as
Mayor Walsh. It does make you wonder what exactly she will be basing her
2014 run for reelection upon.
Perhaps the now rich and wide ranging availability of retail space in
Sierra Madre?
