Mod: Wherever Chandler and Harbicht go, can the FPPC be very far behind them? Apparently not.

California's Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) has made a judgement on the fraudulent activities that the Arcadia Rights Protection Association (committee) performed for Roger Chandler and Bob Harbicht in Arcadia's 2018 election. The committee paid almost $9,000 for a series of mailers supporting Chandler and Harbicht without showing any connection to them. There were other serious violations and the Commission has fined the committee $10,000. This is a significant penalty! Our complaints were heard and kudos to the FPPC.

This judgement is for only one of the many fraudulent activities that occurred in the 2018 election. There are several more FPPC complaints yet to be resolved. (By the way, the same committee was fined $800 for similar illegal activities in Arcadia's 2016 election. That's partially the reason why this most recent fine is so hefty.) So it's obvious that this committee did not learn its lesson and continued to flaunt the rules in 2020.

Voter fraud is a serious issue in Arcadia and it must be stopped. I want my vote to count. I'm sure you do too. I don't want groups and candidates breaking the law and getting away with it. I don't want someone getting elected because of fraud and illegal activities. It's time we stand up at the September 17 City Council meeting and demand that the City and County fulfill their responsibilities to supervise fair, legitimate elections and take action to penalize those who break the law.

Voter Fraud In Roger Chandler's Arcadia District 5?

Accuracy of voter rolls is vital to a fair and credible election, especially now in this time of district elections when vote counts will be close and every vote will count. It is vitally important that only residents who truly live in Arcadia vote and that they understand the penalties associated with voter fraud. In the 2018 election, several voters were identified as registered and casting votes in District 5 while owning property in another City or County and recording that property as their primary residence. The vote was extremely close with Roger Chandler coming out ahead. The matter was brought to the City's attention and no further action has been taken.

For example, Jennifer, the daughter of disgraced former Mayor John Wuo, voted in District 5 in 2018. She registered to vote using Mr. Wuo's home address even though she was on title to a primary residence in Gardena as far back as 2010. Five votes in total were cast from John Wuo's house. His son, Jeffrey, also voted in the 2018 election for District 5 even though he had purchased a home with his wife in Northridge in 2013 and recorded the deed as his primary residence.

Recording property as your primary residence is done for tax purposes and must be signed under penalty of perjury. Either Jennifer and Jeffrey both perjured themselves when recording deeds to property outside of Arcadia or they committed perjury when they signed their ballot attesting, under penalty of perjury, they were residents at the address in Arcadia. What message are we sending if these types of crimes go unpunished? How can we trust our elections and have full confidence that those who are elected are truly representative of what the residents of Arcadia want? Voter integrity is critical to a Republic and the legitimacy of our democracy.

We need to get the issue on record and in front of the City Council before the 2020 election campaigns get started. I urge you to attend the September 17 council meeting and voice your concerns about voter fraud and demand that the 2020 election be well supervised, fair and legitimate.
