Mod: OK, so it isn't really all that heartwarming to see a member of the Mussolini family defending one of their own, but it certainly isn't very surprising. Trump's impersonations of the late Italian despot at his 'MAGA' rallies is literally the stuff of legend.

Mussolini granddaughter defends Trump in attack on Jim Carrey over Twitter post about ‘fascism’ (Raw Storylink): In a series of tweets on Sunday morning, the granddaughter of Italian strongman Benito Mussolini lashed out at actor Jim Carrey over a Twitter post about fascism which led to her later coming to the defense of President Donald Trump.

On Saturday, the comedian — who is also known for his blunt artwork — posted an illustration he made of the Mussolini and his mistress Claretta hanging from their heels after he was deposed following World War II, with the caption: “If you’re wondering what fascism leads to, just ask Benito Mussolini and his mistress Claretta.”

This apparently infuriated his granddaughter Alessandra Mussolini— now an Italian politician — who lashed out at Carrey on Twitter with a series of tweets about American atrocities.

She later tweeted at Trump— tagging him in the post — writing, “President @realDonaldTrump doesn’t have to worry about poor @JimCarrey political attacks; his drawings are only dirty paper.”

During World War II, Mussolini’s invading soldiers murdered thousands of civilians, bombed the Red Cross, dropped poison gas, starved infants in concentration camps and tried to annihilate cultures deemed inferior. Around 8,879 Italian Jews were killed under his regime.

Carrey wrote in the original Tweet that started the feud: “If you’re wondering what fascism leads to, just ask Benito Mussolini and his mistress Claretta.”

“You are a bastard,” responded Alessandra Mussolini after Carrey posted the cartoon of her grandfather and his mistress hanging upside down as part of their execution.

Carey’s point about Benito Mussolini and his ruthless and murderous fascist dictatorship is historically accurate.

Meanwhile, Mussolini regularly retweets the views of Trump to her Twitter followers.
