Mod: The criminality of Trump and his associates is now rapidly approaching Nixonian levels of venality. And while some with decidedly low standards for ethical behavior may believe Trump's crimes don't quite reach the level of treason, it might not matter. The investigations have just begun, and Mueller left some interesting clues.

Mueller report ‘does not exonerate’ Trump: Attorney General Bill Barr (Raw Storylink): President Donald Trump has not been exonerated with regards to the Russia investigation, U.S. Attorney General William Barr is said to have concluded. Barr reportedly made his remarks in a four-page summary of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. The summary was provided as a letter to Congress.

“The Special Counsel states that ‘while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him,'” one line the Mueller report is said to state, according to House Oversight Chair Jerry Nadler (D-NY).

Here’s how Barr avoided charging Trump — which wasn’t Mueller’s decision: National security reporter (RawStory link): Attorney General William Barr released special counsel Robert Mueller’s report about Russia interference into the 2016 elections.

Barr released about four pages of the report and Democrats are demanding the release of the full report. The report “did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities,” per CBS News. Even though Trump was not charged, National security reporter Marcy Wheeler explained how Barr dodged charging Trump.

1)"Treated the underlying crime as the 2 RU interference operations, not other potential crimes (like quid pro quo there’s tons of evidence for)” she tweeted.

2)“Having defined the underlying crime as JUST the hack-and-leak and trolling, and not quid pro quo, but also having Mueller submit a legit case for obstruction, they said, “if not hack-and-leak, then not obstruction,” she tweeted.

“They only considered whether Trump was covering up his involvement in the hack-and-leak operation. It doesn’t consider whether Trump was covering up a quid pro quo, which is what there is abundant evidence of,” she wrote on her website.“

Adding, “They didn’t consider whether Trump obstructed the crime that he appears to have obstructed. They considered whether he obstructed a different crime. And having considered whether Trump obstructed the crime he didn’t commit, rather than considering whether he obstructed the crime he did commit, they decided not to charge him with a crime.”
