A story that originally broke here on The Tattler on Apr 24 ("Landslide Roger: How Extensive Was Voter Fraud In Arcadia's City Council District 5?" link) is now up for discussion at tonight's Arcadia City Council meeting. Four of the folks on the council (Tom Beck is off viewing large animals in South Africa and as of this typing shall not be calling in), will be attempting to get a handle on what exactly went down in Arcadia's 5th district during the election there last month.

Apparently a considerable amount of homes there experienced something of an election population explosion, with empty nests filling back up with non-resident voting offspring no longer of fledgeling age. If agreed to this evening, the City Attorney would then hopefully take the matter to the District Attorney for a thorough forensic investigation.

So you know, voter fraud in a serious offense in California, with those participating in such a crime facing possible pokey time. Alex Padilla, who is the current California Secretary of State, has a web page dealing with this topic (link), and spells out the penalties for voter fraud this way.

Corruption of the Voting Process Any person who commits fraud or attempts to commit fraud, and any person who aids or abets fraud or attempts to aid or abet fraud, in connection with any vote cast, to be cast, or attempted to be cast, is guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment for 16 months or two or three years.  (§ 18500.)

Here is how the Agenda Report for this item reads.

Those concerned with vote count integrity will probably want to tune in for these one. Some of the key evidence to be considered will be the documentation we provided in our Apr 24 report.

Blogs matter. Sometimes.

Does anybody read The Hub?

Yesterday's Tattler post dealt with the topic of The Hub, and while the reader turnout for this report was decent, it in no way compared with what we saw for Sunday's news about those 18 threatened olive trees on Michillinda Avenue in Sierra Madre.

It has since occurred to me, does anyone even read The Hub, or care what about what they have to say? Perhaps not. Check this out. Here is a screenshot from the article that ran there on Apr 29. The topic dealt with grocery stores.

You see that little number in the upper right hand corner, just beneath the headline and next to the graphic depicting an eyeball? That's right, the number is 16. As in only 16 people opened that article and looked at it. In two days.

That is, like, an absurdly low number for a website of county-wide pretensions. A graveyard number.

You have to wonder why they even bother.
