Economic Imperialism and the 710 Tunnel

(Mod: Earlier this week the No 710 Freeway Tunnel folks recirculated an old column I wrote for the Pasadena Star News in early 2013. I thought I'd repost it here along with their reasons for bringing this op-ed back up.) 

Jan SooHoo: Read this article from 2013 that addresses the pressures for the tunnel as a necessary part of the economic engine that is the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. If you watched Assemblymember Chris Holden's hearing on Transportation Funding via livestream on Thursday, one theme was woven through most of the speakers' comments -- goods movement. The handwriting may not be in the DEIR/EIS, but it sure is on the wall!
